Chyrp

Ha, there is something new — Chyrp!

chyrpIn short, Chyrp is a lightweight blogging engine. You may say we already have WordPress, why another one? Even though they both can be used to build your own blog, they are quite different technically. WordPress is so called publishing platform, but Chyrp is just an engine! If something were a platform, (to me) it should have battery included and there should be tons of features built-in to meet my basic or advanced needs. However, if it were an engine, I have to get all the parts I need and put them together before I could drive it onto the road. Therefore, you can see the two software are built by different purposes.

(If you are a Linux user and you know how the Archlinux/Gentoo is different from Ubuntu/OpenSuse, then you get the whole point.)

Poke around Chyrp’s website and try the demo, you may find yourself actually like such minimalist yet powerful approach to blogging.

Theme Updated

When the new version 2.3.1 had been released yesterday, I upgraded WordPress and K2 at the same time.

K2 is a good theme, but I always have more or less problems with it; and I don’t like to hack deeply into its code, so whenever I encounter a problem with K2, I’ll give up so easily.

At this time, I gave up again. The reason is I can’t make K2′s sidebar display tags properly. :(

Metal-JAnyway, I picked up the default theme, Kubrick, and did some modification, and I designed a logo for jaux.net The logo is named Metal-J.

I’m so happy about this work because this is my first time to do a design all by myself — no tutorials, no helps and I believe it is a fantastic job. I love it so much!

However, I am not very satisfied with the header image. I’m going to massage it harder later on.

Only One Left

I am going to delete my other two blogs and focus on jaux.net exclusively.

Why?

When I was working on my assignment tonight, I suddenly felt that I spent too much time on blogging but gained nothing.

What is the reason for blogging? I asked myself, but I couldn’t find the answer.

I don’t have time to wonder, though. My primary job now is my university studies, so that I wouldn’t have much free time to kill. However, I don’t want to give up my blogging totally. So, trying to focus on one might be helpful.
