Everybody is recommending everybody to upgrade to Wordpress 2.5.1, and I did, but I made a huge mistake during the process:

I deleted the uploads directory! All my blog images were located there and the even worse situation was that I didn’t have any backup of those images…

Anyways, if you cannot see those pictures in my previous posts, I would say that I am really sorry about that. I’ll be very careful next time and I hope such accident won’t happen again.

p.s. Cron seems interesting, I’m going to do some researches and ask it to backup my files periodically.

Last weekend was the Easter weekend which was a normal long weekend for me. What I did was the LFS (Linux From Scratch) project. I’d compiled most of the software, but not the kernel …

All this whole week I did at work is figuring out how to call functions in .lib from C#. I already know how to do it manually, but we have a project that is made for this purpose, but I can’t make it work …

We couldn’t get together like last night every night and talk, but it’s not a big problem. We can’t talk face to face, let’s talk virtually.

I’m a little afraid of to say that MagicDraw is a very good Software because I haven’t used it a lot. However, my experience with it so far is very good. My group used it to draw the use case diagrams and sequence diagrams for our first deliverable. We find MagicDraw is fun to learn, but it’s not just a simple toy; it has the real power and the complexity, but it’s still pleased to work with.

Well, so far, no magic.

The magic happened in this morning. I received a phone call from No Magic Inc., who is company behind MagicDraw. The business representative firstly verified with me that there was no problems since I began to use the Software. Then he asked me some general questions, such as how I feel about MagicDraw, etc.. The whole conversion was very smooth and pleased. In the end, the business representative provided me a key to evaluate the enterprise edition for 30 days. I was very happy to accept that offer.

I just downloaded a free version without paying them, but they make me feel appreciated and make me believe that they care about me, care about their customers. This is what I like about the US companies. I had similar experience with GoDaddy, who is hosting this blog, but it’s another story.

One thing I am pretty sure right now is that I will continue using MagicDraw for the rest of the Software Engineering courses, and for my own side projects; but before this phone call, everything was not that clear. So, I think this is a magic, a business magic.

Today, I called Bell customer service right after I’d done my morning course. This time I was very gentle to them; I described what happened to me last time and what was right and what was wrong. The representative was also very gentle to me. In such a nice environment, we then could talk and listen.

It turned out that the girl, who spoke to me last time, incorrectly interpreted my bill and didn’t know the Bell’s hidden policies well. The representative I talked to today explained the bill to me item by item whose speech was very clear and understandable. She also didn’t know there was a 3-year contract at the first place, but she was willing to verify that for me. That was a good attitude, that was an attitude that every big company’s employee should have. Anyway, her behavior made me fell a lot better.

After she came back to the phone, she told me the 3-year contract DOES exist and I could get $35 per month if I signed up. That was exactly what I wanted and what I should get.

So, I trusted Bell, again. I canceled the account cancellation and I signed the contract.

I couldn’t be sure what is going to happen in the next billing cycle; but today, the experience with Bell was enjoyable.
